Canonge Zenino, a residence that has become legendary in the Baiser Salé

Wednesday 1st April 2026

For twenty years, Mario Canonge and Michel Zenino have been cultivating a legendary residency at Baiser Salé, a symbol of a rare complicity and a deep love for live music.

A meeting that became obvious

It was here at Baiser Salé that their story began in the early 2000s. A musical chemistry was quickly established. Mario Canonge's flamboyant piano, nourished by his Caribbean roots and his taste for improvisation, found a perfect echo in Michel Zenino's subtle, grounded double bass. Together, they develop a common language of listening, freedom and constant dialogue.

A residency that spans time

Since 2002, their regular presence at Baiser Salé has become a not-to-be-missed event for jazz fans. What could have been a simple series of concerts has turned into a veritable musical laboratory. Each evening is different: standards revisited, original compositions, daring improvisations... Nothing is set in stone, everything is alive.

Beyond their virtuosity, what strikes you about this duo is the depth of their relationship. Their complicity extends beyond the stage. They talk about listening to each other, respect, a trust built up over the years and a lot of humour!

A living legend on the Paris jazz scene

Today, the Canonge-Zenino duo is part of the club's DNA. Their residency is much more than a series of concerts: it's as much a human adventure as an artistic one.

And at Baiser Salé, each new evening adds another page to this living legend.
