A tribute to Al Jarreau: four big names for two evenings of jazz, soul and groove

There are some voices you recognise from the very first note. Al Jarreau’s was one of them: a way of singing so personal, so free, that it defined an entire era. On Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November 2026, from 7pm to 9pm, four world-class musicians will pay tribute to him in a concert that lovers of fine music won’t want to miss.
A unique voice, an extraordinary career
After a remarkable start to his career, Al Jarreau really took off in 1980 with the album *This Time*, before cementing his success in 1981 with *Breakin’ Away*. Moving with rare ease from jazz to pop, he remains to this day the only singer to have won a Grammy Award in three different categories: jazz, R&B and pop. A career that speaks volumes about his freedom and generosity.
A quartet brought together for the occasion

On drums is Roger Biwandu, one of the most renowned drummers on the French scene. He has collaborated with Jacques Higelin and Biréli Lagrène, two major figures in French and European music, and has distinguished himself both on stage and as a musical director.
On bass is Linley Marthe, hailing from Mauritius. His distinctive style, drawing on the rhythms and colours of his native island, is unlike any other.
On piano is Pierre de Bethmann, a pianist, composer and arranger, winner of the 2024 Victoires du Jazz award in the ‘Instrumental Artist of the Year’ category, and a key figure on the French jazz scene. He has been teaching at the Paris National Conservatoire of Music since 2008.
On vocals is Bruno Edjenguélé, whose warm voice and stage presence draw on jazz, soul and groove.
Because you don’t just come to listen to covers: you come to share a moment with musicians who play together with a sense of camaraderie, joy and sincerity. Lively, generous music – the sort that makes you want to tap your feet and leave with a smile. We certainly need that right now.
Whether you grew up listening to Al Jarreau or are discovering him for the first time, these two evenings are made for you!
