The VOWSKI quartet was born in early 2023, when drummer Simon Jodlowski and pianist Nathan Mollet were looking for new sounds and musical experiments.
The quartet's sound is modern jazz with fusion, rock and ambient overtones. With musicians from both jazz and contemporary music backgrounds, the group takes on an electro-acoustic dimension, with saxophones equipped with effects, electric keyboards and pianos, and the presence of a bass.
The original tracks are divided into several written parts, leaving more room for interpretation and nuance. The composer wants to create suspenseful moments of trance in his pieces, where each musician gradually builds a pyramid of sound, always different from one version to the next. Throughout the rehearsals, the pieces evolve and each instrumentalist adds his or her own personal touch, creating a project at the crossroads of jazz and contemporary music.
