Inspired by the traditions of son and Cuban rumba, as well as New York descargas (the jam sessions that gave rise to salsa), Soñadero plays with polyrhythmic motifs, twirls and Cuban folklore in evolving musical pieces. Festive or dreamlike, sometimes romantic, the music composed by guitarist Paul de Robillard transcends this tradition while putting improvisation at the heart of the game. Alongside Paul, Henri Peyrous on saxophone and clarinet, winner of the Jazz Migration 2023 with his quartet ProspectusElaine Beaumont, double bass player and regular accompanist to singer Gabi Hartmann, brings depth and swing to the group's grooves. Eloan Haber on percussion and vocals colours the Afro-Cuban rhythms and energises the quintet's textures, while Guillermo Rojas on drums propels the compositions with finesse and inventiveness. Together, they give life to a fresh, energetic Latin jazz, where each piece unfolds between virtuosity, improvisation and mixed atmospheres, offering a festive and inventive musical journey.
"A fresh, energetic Latin jazz to be served at any temperature.
