With Le Temps d’Écrire, his debut album as bandleader, drummer Louis Bao Lao brings to life a musical world shaped by nearly 25 years spent alongside Ernesto Tito Puentes and by a wealth of artistic encounters and collaborations. Through nine original compositions and two arrangements of standards, he weaves a jazz sound open to world music, where Afro-Cuban rhythms interact with Brazilian sounds.
From ‘Du Petit Boléro’, driven by the festive energy and conviviality of Cuban tradition, to ‘Song For Santos’ and ‘Samba Là-Haut’, which celebrate the musical colours of Brazil, each track reveals a facet of his journey and his influences. A rich and eclectic sound, blending groove, warmth and finesse, which celebrates the richness of cultures and the joy of playing together.
A fusion of jazz with Afro-Cuban and Brazilian influences, blending groove, warmth and conviviality.
