Za Kweli draws inspiration from the intersection of R&B, soul, jazz, funk and hip-hop to craft a musical world where everything stems from her: her voice, placed at the heart of every track, guides and embodies her songwriting.

Her name, which means ‘for real’ in Shikomori — the language of the Comoros — is no coincidence: it embodies her entire artistic approach, one of sincere expression, stripped of all superfluity, in search of what is most essential within her.
