#Meet… ISAÍAS ALVES

Born in São Luís, in north-eastern Brazil, Isaías is a percussionist and composer whose work draws on the folk traditions of Maranhão. He grew up to the beat of street drums, processions and festivals, before taking his music on a journey to Europe. With him, tradition meets improvisation, jazz takes root in the local landscape, and rhythm becomes a language.

These #RDVavec... events are designed to be a living space – a place where musicians come together and experiment, where the beat becomes a shared language, and where every evening can take a different turn.
