After more than two decades of musical collaboration, Mario Canonge and Michel Zenino are reviving their famous residency at the Baiser Salé, a ritual eagerly awaited every Wednesday by a loyal and passionate audience. Since 2006, this unique piano-double bass duo has established a format that is as demanding as it is intense, without artifice or compromise, where every note and every silence counts. The absence of drums, far from being a constraint, becomes a playground where concentration, mutual listening and sensitivity reach their peak. On stage, Canonge, a leading figure in Caribbean jazz, and Zenino, a double-bass player with a formidably precise phrasing, creatively reinterpret the great jazz standards – from Thelonious Monk to Ornette Coleman – whilst infusing them with their Creole and Latin influences and their love of cultural fusion. This residency, a veritable laboratory of improvisation, blends tradition and modernity in a rare alchemy, fuelled by years of uninterrupted musical dialogue.
An unmissable event for lovers of vibrant, free and embodied jazz.
