Sébastien Jarrousse has always had something of Branford Marsalis in his sound. Not a copy, no - more a filiation, a spirit. You can hear it in his playing, in his blend of elegance and freedom, in the way he lets each phrase breathe, but also in his compositions, where we find the same exacting standards and taste for risk that make Branford's music so vibrant.
