There are musicians who play, and then there are those who tell the story of entire lives with their breath. Gueorgui Kornazov is one of them. A Bulgarian trombonist and composer renowned for his virtuosity and his unique style blending Bulgarian musical traditions with Western jazz, he enters the world of jazz like opening a window on the world of jazz. His trombone doesn't bluster, it speaks gravely, tenderly, sometimes mischievously, with that brassy grain that seems to carry the dust of the roads and the smoke of the clubs. His music, described as brimming with joy, optimism and humanity, is a skilful blend of irresistible melodies and brassy tones, offering an unforgettable musical experience.
As Yves Dorisson wrote in CultureJazz: "There's a greatness of soul that runs through this music, and what sets it apart is undoubtedly an accuracy that's steeped in emotion, too". And that's exactly it, Kornazov isn't looking for effect, he's looking for the link between people.
