After two albums and years of performing together, Italian-American guitarist Michael Felberbaum reunites with Pierre de Bethmann on piano and keyboards, Gabriel Midon on double bass and Karl Jannuska on drums - and we're as excited as when we recognise an old song we love from the very first seconds. It promises contemporary jazz that's both sensitive and energetic, taking the ear by surprise, tickling the soul and throwing in a few subtle grooves. With Felberbaum, the music is never simply played: it lives, it breathes, and sometimes it leads into slightly hypnotic, almost psychedelic zones, where improvisation has as much place as raw emotion. In the past, the jazz press has praised her ability to blend intelligence and emotion in her projects. He has also been noted in previous formations for his subtle dialogue between instruments, where each musician becomes both soloist and partner, and where the cohesion of the group is what makes the music vibrate from within. In short, this quartet forges a truly open and captivating group sound, transforming a concert into an intense, almost jubilant musical journey. It's one of those evenings you leave wondering how the hours flew by so quickly.
