DENISE MANGIARDI QUARTET

Four personalities, four backgrounds, and the same desire to play together: that's the spirit of the Denise Mangiardi Quartet. Around Denise Mangiardi's voice and piano, the music flows freely, elegantly but without ever taking itself too seriously. Trained in jazz as well as classical and musical theatre, she composes and performs music that is refined, sensitive and full of depth. Her voice moves naturally from intimacy to élan, always in complicit conversation with the piano.

On saxophone, Robby Marshall adds colour and imagination. His playing is fluid, expressive, sometimes surprising, always sincere. He loves to explore, to play with shapes, to let the music breathe while keeping the melodic thread firmly in hand. On drums, Jeff Boudreaux lays down a solid, lively rhythm. A regular on stages the world over, he combines energy, precision and flexibility, giving the band a groovy, breathing base.

The bass, still in the process of being confirmed, completes the adventure with its stable yet mobile playing, essential for holding the ensemble together. Different in their worlds, but very much in tune with each other, these musicians invent a common language, giving birth to jazz that's joyful, spontaneous and resolutely alive!
