With Vibes A Péyi Là, Jocelyn Ménard's Caribbean Jazz Group offers a fusion where the Caribbean takes centre stage. Modern jazz, dance rhythms and Caribbean traditions intermingle in a music that is firmly rooted, open and resolutely collective.
Saxophonist, composer and leader Jocelyn Ménard, a native of Montreal who has lived in Guadeloupe for over thirty years, has developed a style that draws on jazz, gwoka, funk and biguine. This album continues the process begun with Terre-Mère, between heritage and creation.
On piano, Fabrice Devienne brings fine harmonic colours and a keen ear for groove and improvisation.
On bass, Régis Thérèse provides a solid, fluid foundation, essential to the group's balance.
On drums, Arnaud Dolmen deploys a precise, committed pulse, linking Caribbean traditions with contemporary jazz language.
