Boris Lamérand, a violinist of inventive élan and vibrant touch, opens the doors to a rare sonic journey with his trio AOÏ and the 'Koto Project'. Woven together by jazz, classical music and otherworldly influences, his journey takes in a landscape where audacity meets poetry, and where each note seems to seek a wider horizon. At her side, Fumie Hihara, the inspired guardian of the koto, makes the age-old strings of her instrument resonate like a breath of silk. Under her fingers, the koto becomes a bridge of light: it lifts the melodies, soothes the rhythms, and unfurls a contemplative gentleness that delicately links East and West. Alexandra Lanciaux's deep, sensitive double bass anchors this musical journey. Her playing, full of nuance and warmth, provides a vibrant foundation, a breath that supports and envelops the trio's dialogues. She adds discreet pulsations, an organic texture that completes the sound picture in a natural way. Together, these three artists trace a path where ancient traditions meet modern impulses, jazz improvisation meets classical heritage. The Koto Project becomes a showcase for listening and emotion, where each instrument whispers its own legend. An intimate and luminous interlude, to be experienced to the full at Baiser Salé.
