CARTE BLANCHE FOR MAGIC MALIK

Quartet XP - XP for Experience, of course - Magic Malik continues to explore the open terrain where jazz reinvents itself with every note. A flautist with singular ideas, curious about everything, he plays with sound as others play with light: shifting shadows, revealing new colours. His flute speaks, blows, plays, sometimes bursts into flames, carried by the very special energy that runs through all his music. For this evening, he is joined by special guest Maciek Lasserre, a saxophonist and composer renowned on the contemporary and experimental jazz scene, who blends jazz, improvisation and urban influences with singular creativity and international experience. At his side are three musicians as inventive as they are attentive: Maïlys Maronne on piano, Nicolas Bauer on bass and Vincent Sauve on drums. Together, they have created a space for collective play, where improvisation becomes a common language. Here we come across shifting grooves, unexpected harmonies and bursts of melody that spring up and then immediately escape. Nothing is set in stone, everything is transformed, that's the very principle of the experiment.
After an incandescent live album recorded at Baiser Salé, hailed for its freshness and spontaneity, Quartet XP continues to chart its course: music in motion, both demanding and generous, to be followed with eyes closed and hearts wide open.
