BRUNO SCHORP invite M.OHEIX / C.PANZANI / L.MONTANA / K.JANNUSKA
"ODYSSEY" - DEUX CONCERTS : 19h30 & 21h30
With Odyssey, French double bassist Bruno Schorp breaks free from his already highly polished style and sails towards new horizons: we hear hints of New York jazz, crossing bridges to alternative pop, contemporary classical music, and post-jazz. Begun during the Covid period, the compositions on this album trace a true path of light shaped by powerful encounters (notably with Ben Wendel, Célia Kameni, and Anne Sila) and by the desire to confront structure and improvisation. To bring this sonic odyssey to life, Bruno has surrounded himself with a team known for their refined groove and boldness: Malou Oheix on vocals, Christophe Panzani on sax, Léonardo Montana on piano, and Karl Jannuska on drums. With Odyssey, you can feel the desire to open windows: melodies that breathe, unexpected rhythmic breaks, arrangements that combine finesse and freedom, and Bruno's bass line, which remains strong while knowing when to fade into the background when the vocals or piano take center stage. In short, this is an album where rigor meets improvisation, where elegance coexists with audacity. For anyone who loves jazz that ventures a little further off the beaten track, this is an event not to be missed.
