With The Spirit of 3, Christophe Dal Sasso, in collaboration with American saxophonist/singer Shekinah Rodz, takes us where we least expect it, although the insatiable composer never strays too far from his first loves, jazz and the classical repertoire. Drawing on his rich experience writing for big bands, choirs, and symphonic orchestrations, he has created a repertoire that is as profound as it is festive, blending Mediterranean, African, and Indian rhythms with his ensemble of seven instrumentalists and a singer/percussionist. Three, again. A decidedly fundamental number that exalts everything binary about us, our arms, our eyes, our ears, and even the beating of our hearts. Three, to signify birth, life, and death.
