Soblom is a group of six musicians who met at the Paris Conservatory of Music and decided to embark on a unique adventure: playing contemporary jazz that travels in all directions. Their songs combine the hushed, dreamy atmosphere of Nordic jazz (Lars Danielsson), the sunny energy of Israeli jazz (Avishai Cohen, Shaï Maestro), the powerful and unusual colors of Armenian jazz (Tigran Hamasyan)... and a hint of the ECM label's dreamy style. The result is music that likes to shake things up, sometimes fiery, sometimes downright disconcerting... but also capable of being soft and melancholic when needed. In short, it's jazz that lives, breathes, and isn't afraid to stray from the beaten path. On bass trombone, Tristan Boulanger delivers warm low notes, Léo Morini makes the tenor sax sing, and Amaël Billard carves out fine lines on the soprano sax. Charles Thuillier holds the double bass like a beating heart, Bettina Martinez colors the pieces on the piano, and Andy Rostoll brings life with his inventive drumming.
