TÈR LABA...elsewhere. The one we come from, the one that sculpts us, to which we also always return, and Valérie's own, Reunion, the island where she was born. In this new project, she reconnects with her roots and, above all, with her mother tongue through song, reinterpreting the old “Séga” songs that lulled her throughout her childhood, but also introducing us to her own compositions, co-written with the talented Guadeloupean pianist Flo Vincenot. She also sought out Clément Belmonte, a trumpeter from Guadeloupe, and Yannick Lavary, who, like her, represents Reunion Island. These artists are rooted in their own culture and eager to serve up music that is delicate, touching, danceable and deceptively naïve. It's the freedom to be oneself that is defended in Tèr laba, the right to be multiple, the right to be from here, and from elsewhere... Singer, pianist, bassist and composer, Valérie Chane is a multi-instrumentalist who quickly gained recognition as a dazzling Creole jazz pianist and a key figure in contemporary Creole jazz music. She has released two albums on the Aztec musiques label (label of the group Malavoi). Muzik pou lo Kèr and Nout Souk, both playlisted on RFi, FIP, France Inter, France musique, France Outre-mer). She has performed alongside Mino Cinelu (Miles Davis percussionist), Thierry Fanfant, Dédé Saint-Prix, Omar Lye Fook, Géraldine Laurent, Joby Valente...
