In a sneak preview, Daby unveils a new album due for release in October 2025, a tribute to the history of the Daby family, from his grandfather Daby, through the illustrious Touré Kunda brothers, and finally himself, the fruit of all this history, life experience and music. Like a vital need, Daby tells us the story of these men who migrated out of necessity or out of a desire for new opportunities, encounters and adventures. “To do this, I take a parallel, because my family's story is universal. It's similar to the story of the men and women who left the African continent thousands of years ago, eventually populating the whole Earth. I tell of their quest for survival, their search for happiness, as well as their fears and anxieties in the face of suffering and uncertainty.” Accompanied by Jeremie, star bassist with the band Electro Deluxe, who regales us with his clever, groovy, efficient playing, and by Stéphane, whose list of collaborations is as long as his talent is great, and we've seen him sideman with Maurane, Michel Jonasz, Ben l'Oncle Soul, Gaël Faye, Electro Deluxe, Pierre de Bethmann, Alfio Origlio, Karim Ziad, Bojan Z, Vincent Peirani, Dhafer Youssef, Ibrahim Maalouf, Franck McComb... Daby Touré is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Mauritania and raised in Senegal, whose rich career has taken him from the deserts of West Africa to the vibrant music scenes of Paris and Montreal, where he now resides. His unique sound, a fusion of African folk melodies, desert blues, jazz, pop, reggae, funk and soul, has captivated audiences the world over. Born into a family of musicians, his father, Hamidou Touré, was a member of the pioneering group Touré Kunda, the totem of African afropop music. Despite his father's initial reluctance, Daby secretly learned to play the guitar, and was deeply influenced by the rich musical traditions of the Soninke, Wolof and Toucouleur cultures. His childhood in Mauritania and Senegal, combined with exposure to global icons such as Stevie Wonder and Bob Marley, shaped his eclectic musical style.
