JME will present a CD titled "Nire Gitarxoari" in a duo with guitarist Pablo Fdez Arrieta, released in June under the Madrid label "Karonte." The duo will perform a mix of compositions by Pablo and JM, as well as some standards.
Pablo and JM, both of Basque origin, met in Madrid in the late 1980s during a workshop with John Abercrombie, from whom they will also play a few pieces. Since then, each has followed their own path. JM's career is well-known in France. Pablo, born in Madrid, has lived in Brazil where he recorded with Nana Vasconcellos, in New York, and currently lives in the Basque Country. Pablo initiated the formation of this duo with his friend JME and composed the piece "Nire Gitarxoari," based on an old Basque poem, which is also the title of the album.
