The French duo Daft Punk is formed by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. It was the album Homework, in 1997, which allowed them to achieve their first success. Their single Around the World topped the charts in many countries, particularly in the United States. The album sold two million copies. It is a double gold disc in France. With this masterstroke the group acquired international notoriety. For the following album, Discovery, in 2001, Daft Punk appeared masked for the first time. Determined to protect themselves from the star system, they now resort to robot helmets to protect their privacy. They separate in 2021.
