2026 marks the centenary of the birth of Miles Davis. It's hard not to stop.
Darius and Gaspard Moglia pay tribute to the man who was, for them, a decisive influence, accompanied for the occasion by two figures from the French jazz scene, double bassist Gabriel Sauzay and drummer Pierre Eden Guilbaud.
Miles Davis traversed jazz like no one else, from bebop to modal jazz, from cool to jazz-rock, constantly reinventing his language and each time dragging the greats in his wake. It's the era of the two quintets that's in the spotlight this evening: those legendary formations in which Shorter, Hancock and their accomplices together invented a new way of inhabiting music: taut, intuitive, always on the move.
A 45-minute concert, dense and full of life... then the stage opens! The jam takes over, in the spirit for which the festival is renowned: encounters, daring, and the night really begins.
