OLIVIER KER OURIO New 4TET - "LIFE AS IT IS"

The melodies of LIFE AS IT IS evoke sunshine, sea, and freedom. They oscillate between pure joy, serenity, and that little bit of “saudade” that islanders carry in their hearts. They transport the listener with swaying rhythms that range from Brazil to the Caribbean, via the Indian Ocean, a place dear to Olivier Ker Ourio's heart. All the songs were conceived on classical guitar, the central instrument of the album. To perform them, Olivier Ker Ourio has teamed up with Mathis Cordier, a 22-year-old prodigy from French Guiana, Marquesas, and Réunion, who brilliantly captures the spirit of the compositions while bringing his own personal style and an island flavor that resonates with the Creole roots of the album. The rhythm section, faithful and talented, is provided by André Charlier and Benoît Sourisse, a duo of experienced musicians and long-time collaborators, whose listening skills and musicality bring a rare depth and energy to each track. “LIFE AS IT IS” is an album that exudes freedom, sharing, and inner journey, a musical universe that is both warm and sunny, inviting the listener to cast off and let themselves be carried away by the sounds, colors, and emotions.
