SIMON MOULLIER
Vibraphoniste, producteur, compositeur et chef
d'orchestre, Simon Moullier s'est distingué comme l'une des voix les plus marquantes de
sa génération.
Né à Paris, et ayant étudié les percussions
classiques et la batterie au cours de ses années de formation, Simon a acheté
ses premiers maillets au lycée. Devenu rapidement reconnu pour sa toute nouvelle
approche et son son sur l’instrument, Moullier a ensuite obtenu un diplôme de
premier cycle du Berklee College of Music, suivi d’une maîtrise du Thelonious
Monk Institute.
Depuis, il a partagé la scène avec des
personnalités du jazz comme Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, John Patitucci,
Danilo Perez, Miguel Zenon, Gerald Clayton, Logan Richardson, Jimmy Heath et
Jeff Tain Watts. Dayna Stephens, Bob Sheppard.
Simon est un musicien de tournée actif, ayant joué
dans plusieurs des clubs et festivals de jazz les plus respectés, notamment le
Club Coca Cola de Dizzy au Jazz at Lincoln Center à New York, Sunside à Paris,
le Festival de la Journée internationale du jazz à Cuba et en Russie. Rorqual
bleu à Los Angeles, au Portugal, en Espagne, au Royaume-Uni, en Italie, en
Suède et au Panama.
Outre son travail d'interprète, Moullier est un
éducateur actif et a passé de nombreuses heures à sensibiliser la communauté à
Cuba, en Indonésie, au Panama et en Inde.
Born in Paris, and having studied
classical percussion and drumset extensively throughout his formative years,
Simon picked up his first mallets during high school. Quickly becoming recognized for his entirely new approach and sound on the
instrument, Moullier went on to complete an undergraduate degree from Berklee
College of Music followed by a Master’s degree from the Thelonious Monk
Institute.
He has since shared the stage with such jazz luminaries as Herbie Hancock,
Wayne Shorter, John Patitucci, Danilo Perez, Miguel Zenon, Gerald Clayton,
Logan Richardson, Jimmy Heath, Jeff Tain Watts and is featured on recording
with Mark Turner, Kendrick Scott, Dayna Stephens, Bob Sheppard.
Simon is an active touring musician, having performed worldwide at many of the
most-respected jazz clubs and festivals, including Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola at
Jazz at Lincoln Center in NYC, Sunside in Paris, The International Jazz Day
Festival in Cuba and Russia, the Blue Whale in Los Angeles, Portugal, Spain,
U.K, Italy, Sweden, Panama. Besides his work as a performer Simon Moullier is an active educator and spent many
hours doing community outreach in Cuba, Indonesia, Panama and India.
